The Right Mix
Do you ever have those moments when everything just clicks?
That's how I felt this morning.
After days of letting go and nights filled with strange dreams, I woke up very early—and surprisingly refreshed. I couldn't remember a thing. And that didn't matter anyway.
While I was in bed, a few more ideas for my website came to mind— programs and spaces that I had created months ago and had almost forgotten to include.
Shortly after that, I was sitting at my laptop. The sun was just rising. I wrote the text for it and finalized the structure.
At some point, I took a shower, kissed my sleepy boyfriend, and went to the studio to teach.
The class went wonderfully. It was the right mix of physical activity and mindfulness—I could tell by the smiling faces afterward.
After that, I sat outside with my coffee. It was drizzling lightly, but I didn't care.
Then off to the market. Groceries. Peonies. And on the way home, as the rain was now pouring down, I suddenly had to laugh.
Because it had been such a beautiful morning. So smooth. And productive at the same time.
I had flirted with the bread seller. Received a compliment from the vegetable vendor. And realized: my aura is different. Softer. More open. More lively.
I think that's because I've really come to feel at home here—in this blend of a desk, my own little world, exercise, relationships, creativity, and just ordinary everyday life.
Now I'm sitting at my desk again. It's raining outside. And I'm writing these lines.
In case you've been wondering what I actually do: I help people create the conditions that allow them to live their lives on their own terms again.
And that requires one thing above all else: capacity.
What does that mean?
Being able to rely on yourself. Knowing when you’re “on”—and when you’re not. Not letting every emotional ups and downs throw you off your rhythm. Taking your own needs seriously and communicating them, even if it causes friction. Staying true to yourself and connecting with others from that place.
And being able to switch flexibly between different states: Calm. Focus. Energy. Enjoyment. Depth. Humor. Everyday life.
I used to always be looking for that one thing. The perfect routine. The cure-all.
Today I believe that something truly good and lasting almost never comes from just one thing. Rather, it comes from a combination of elements that evolves along with life itself.
It's just like with my makeup. For years, I searched for the perfect shade—until I realized that it's impossible because my skin tone is constantly changing. Now I just mix two shades and adjust them depending on the season and how much sun I get.
I've started doing something similar with tights: wearing two pairs on top of each other for the perfect blend of warmth and color.
Now the search is over. What a relief.
We often don't realize until afterward just how much energy it takes to constantly search for the perfect solution. Sometimes we don't even know what we're actually looking for anymore.
And that's exactly why the Mirror exists now—a space that doesn't judge, but simply shows you where you are right now.
All my love and the perfect mix of rain and peonies,
Jeannette
