Dear fellow travelers,

Over the past few days, I've noticed something strange. It's been creeping up on me. As if a fog were lifting.

I think I'm going to stop managing my life. And start living it.

A few days ago, I dreamed of people from a time long past. Of conversations that never seemed to end. Of attention that wanted something from me. Of old dynamics.

And in the dream, something new happened: I didn't stop. I kept going. Not out of stubbornness, but because I knew where I wanted to go.

Later, I realized: That wasn't just a dream.

Over the past few days, people have been getting back in touch. People who hadn't heard from me in a long time.

Some were happy. Some were hurt. Some were surprised.

And for the first time, I didn't feel the need to explain myself. I could see their feelings—and at the same time, stay true to myself.

In the past, I would have tried to fix everything. Today, I realize that some bridges don't need to be crossed. It's enough just to build them.

Then I found an old video. An earlier version of myself.

She spoke about longing. About shame. About the desire to express herself more freely. About the uneasy feeling of not quite belonging to herself.

Her voice was softer. Younger. More cautious. And yet she knew an astonishing amount. She just couldn't see yet what I can see today.

I sat there and thought: You did it. It wasn't a straight path. But you've made it to where you once wanted to be.

Perhaps that is the biggest surprise—that the future isn't always lying somewhere ahead of us. Instead, it begins long before we even realize it, while we still think we're lost.

Interestingly, all of this is happening at a time when I'm tired.

Like after a long move. Like someone who has just unpacked the last few boxes and is now sitting on the sofa for the first time.

And realizes: I'm home.

Maybe that's the real story these days. Not growth. Not visibility.

Rather, a sense of belonging. To myself. To my life. To the house I’ve been building all these years—and that now, at last, is ready to be lived in.

With love, amidst the unpacked boxes,
Jeannette
